Laser-Doppler anemometry, flow visualization and unsteady numerical simulation using fully second-order accuracy in time and space, were the tools employed to meet this purpose. Large-amplitude organized oscillations are reported to occur in the investigated geometry due to fluid-dynamic by: It uses a He-Ne laser operating in the TEM,, mode and providing 15 mW of con- tinuous power at a wavelength of nm. The laser beam is divided into two parts by a beam splitter prism which yields a beam separation of 50 mm.

Modeling laser velocimeter signals as triply stochastic Poisson processes W.T. Mayo, Jr. (in Minnesota Symposium on Laser Anemometry ) Remote measurement of wind speed using a dual beam backscatter laser Doppler velocimeter K.G.

Bartlett, C.Y. Abstract. This book presents the papers given at a conference on the use of measuring instruments in energy applications. Topics considered at the conference included instrumentation for the measurement of two-phase flows in gas turbine engines, laser doppler velocimeter signal quality in a spark ignition engine, measurements of flow from a fuel nozzle, anemometers for loss of coolant.

Abstract Various methods of optical and electronic frequency shift as used with a laser Doppler anemometer system are discussed. Specifically, an opto-electronic system that allows a stable frequency shift variable from 10 kHz to 50 MHz is covered.

This volume contains papers selected from contributions made to the Fourth Symposium on "Applications of Laser Anemometry". It is divided into three chapters concerned respectively with single-phase flows, two-phase flows and instrumentation.

In the first chapter, the papers are concerned with. Spectral information on turbulent fluid flow can be obtained from the rate statistics of tracer particles imbedded in the flow. In particular, the particle velocity correlation function can be measured by a laser technique with a single focused beam, which also provides a means to assess the lag behavior of the particles.

The method offers significant simplifications of commonly used Cited by: Spectral information on turbulent fluid flow can be obtained from the rate statistics of tracer particles imbedded in the flow. Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA), also known as Particle Dynamics Analysis (PDA), Phase Doppler Particle Analysis (PDPA), Phase Doppler Difference Method (PDDM) and Phase Doppler Interferometry (PDI), is a laser optical instrument for simultaneous measurement of the velocity and size of spherical by: 1.

Velocity measurements were made using laser Doppler anemometry. The results demonstrate that Lorentz forces generate a significant degree of secondary flow.
